The Myth Of Osiris

The ancient Egyptians bealived that each god and goddess had a role in maintaining peace and harmony across the land. Some gods would bring the flood every year while others would offer protection, and some would take care of those who have died. There were also gods that were represented by plants, animals, or towns. The ancient Egyptians believed that in order for life to continue they had to worship the gods. Their is a tale of how some of them were created. It starts off by explaining how before there were ever any gods or goddessess there was water, where one day a hill grew in and appeared Atum the first god ever to be alive. The story goes,He coughed and spit out Shu and Tefnut. Shu was the god of air and Tefnut the goddess of moisture. Shu and Tefnut had two children named Geb(the god of earth) and Nut (the goddess of the sky). Geb and Nut had four children named Osiris, Isis, Seth, and Nephthys. Osiris and Isis were the king and queen of the earth. Seth was the god of chaos, he represented everything that thretened harmony in Egypt and Nephthys was the protector of the dead. Seth, Osiris brother was very jealous of him and his anger caused him to kill Osiris sending him to the under world where he became the god of the dead and ruler of the underworld, while Seth Stayed on Earth as the king. However, Osiris and Isis had a son named Horus. Horus battled againt Seth and regained the thrown. In the end, Horous became king of the earth and Seth of the underworld. This is just one story of many others of how the gods and goddess became known.

power of hammurabi

Hammurabi made the first laws 282 laws. One of the laws were if you break a bone the same bone would broken to you. Another rule is if you kill a slave you will be punished. The laws of Mesopotamians are kind of harsh. I say that Hammurabi was the greatest king in the Mesopotamians history.

Power of The Mesopotamians

The most important achievements of the Mesopotamians
are the levees, tools, irrigation systems, writing, art,
technology, and laws. The Mesopotamians created levees to
stop the water from flash flooding. Mesopotamians created tools like the plow. The plow helped the farmers plant crops easier. Irrigation systems were another invention. The
Mesopotamians created irrigation systems to bring water to the other cities The Mesopotamians created a language Cuneiform. Cuneiform was used for a different kind of language. They wrote on a clay tablet with a sharp object. They were the first people to make art and paintings like pictures of the gods. These are the inventions from the Mesopotamians.

The levees are the most important invention created by the Mesopotamians. It would stop flash flooding. Levees help us in planting. It would not destroy their houses. It’s a good invention because it is not making people to drive or walk just to get water for their plants. It also would control the water. The levees helped Mesopotamians to create dams and dug canals. This is why levees had the most power.

The story of Gilgamesh

The story of Gilgamesh takes place in the city of Uruk. The story involves Gilgamesh and Enkidu and Humbaba. In the beginning, Gilgamesh and Enkidu get bored and go to the woods to get wood for their temples. Then when Gilgamesh and Enkidu are walking through the forest they see Humbaba. Humbaba appears and fights Gilgamesh and Enkidu. In the end, Enkidu and Gilgamesh cut off his head.

The message of the story is a great hero. I choose this because Gilgamesh went to the forest and fought Humbaba. Also, in the story he built a great empire. Another reason is because he brougth back Humbabas head.

I believe Gilgamesh is a hero because he fought the demon. Also, he cut his head off and destroyed him. Finally, he made lots of stuff with the wood. In my opinion, Gilgamesh was a hero.

Mesopotamia

It is 3,000 BC and I am in Sumer. A big problem settling in Sumer is water. The water is a problem because the rain makes flash flood. The Mesopotamians water problem is big because the Tigris and the Euphrates Rivers flood the village. The water floods the plants making it hard to live in. Sometimes, it is really hot and the plants dry up because of the gust winds. I mostly have less water or a lot of water.
